New Secondary Students
VSA 1:1 MacBook Program 2024-25:
💻Embrace the Future of Learning💻
💻Embrace the Future of Learning💻
As we step into an era dominated by Artificial Intelligence and advanced computational technology, it's crucial for our students to be equipped with the best tools for success. We highly recommend that parents invest in a new MacBook for their Year 6 child. With proper care, this device wiill have a lifespan of 3-5 years.
For the upcoming school year, students in Year 6 and above are required to bring their own MacBooks as their primary learning device. To avoid delays in delivery, we have consulted with our Apple Authorized Reseller, Senco-Masslink, and advise parents to select standard models over customized ones for faster shipment.
Apple MacBook Air 13" or 15 (with Apple M2 Chip or better)
Apple MacBook Pro 14" or 16" (with Apple M3 Chip or better)

Option 2 - Bringing a pre-owned MacBook to VSA
To fit into the learning environment, pre-owned MacBooks require re-imaging in late August. This includes necessary configurations and software installations. Older models are not supported and are incompatible with some of the software and platforms used at VSA. Recommended models (with Apple Silicon M1 chip or better):
MacBook Air (2020 or later)
MacBook Pro (2020 or later)
What does “re-imaging” mean?
Reimaging means to replace all existing contents of the hard disk with standardized software titles and settings for use in VSA.
Does this mean all the files in the MacBook are to be erased? Will the school provide backup and restore service for students?
Reimaging will erase all contents currently in the student's MacBook. Therefore, it is very important that students back up their files before bringing their MacBook in for reimaging.
The school does not provide backup service for students, but we can offer suggestions to students regarding their backup strategy. It is also worth mentioning that the school has provided Google Drive to all Secondary students which allow them to use it as backup media.
