To ensure that each student's MacBook is equipped with the complete set of learning tools, pre-owned Student MacBooks must be sent to the IT Office for re-imaging. This process includes configuring access to school Wi-Fi and printing services, as well as installing system configurations and additional software. The schedule for re-imaging will be posted on the VSA Mobile Learning Website before the school year begins.
Before submitting your MacBook for re-imaging, it is crucial to back up all files, as this process will erase all existing data. Although the IT Office does not offer backup services, secondary students have access to Google Drive, which can be used as a backup solution.
Reimaging means to replace all existing contents of the hard disk with standardized software titles and settings for use in VSA.
Does this mean all the files in the MacBook are to be erased? Will the school provide backup and restore service for students?
Reimaging will erase all contents currently in the student's MacBook. Therefore, it is very important that students back up their files before bringing their MacBook in for reimaging.
The school does not provide backup service for students, but we can offer suggestions to students regarding their backup strategy. It is also worth mentioning that the school has provided Google Drive to all Secondary students which allow them to use it as backup media.
